In 1994, the Svensons founded Seattle Coffee Company in the United Kingdom after discovering a void in the gourmet coffee offerings. The couple went on to open 65 shops under that name and were eventually bought out by Starbucks.
Nearly two decades later, the Bellevue High School sweethearts are at it again. MOD SUPER FAST PIZZA™ OPENS IN DOWNTOWN BELLEVUE
SEATTLE, WA - MOD Pizza opened their second location at 317 Bellevue Way NE, in downtown Bellevue on Saturday, January 23, 2010. This expansion follows the success of their first location at Sixth & University in downtown Seattle, which opened in November 2008. MOD (Made On Demand) Pizza is a unique twist on fast casual food, with a nod to early 60’s American fast food combined with the speed and style of the British sub-culture known as the Mods. The MOD concept was conceived by a group of notable Seattle entrepreneurs, each with experience and success in the restaurant business, who all saw an opportunity to raise the bar in the quick serve market with an emphasis on quality, customer service and style. Their goal is to provide “Simple Food for Complex Times.”
The Bellevue store is conveniently located one block south of Bellevue Square in the heart of the city. In a city where everything old is torn down, MOD takes pride in the fact that they have preserved a bit of Bellevue history by completely reinventing the interior of an old iconic 1950’s site while keeping the integrity of the structure. Drive up parking, which is becoming a critical issue for Bellevue retailers, is amply available.
MOD’s individual 11” thin crust pizzas are all made on demand, using their signature handmade dough and red sauce which is made fresh daily. Customers can choose from a menu with inventive selections such as the Caspian (mozzarella, gorgonzola, barbeque chicken, barbeque sauce, sliced red onions) and Lucy Sunshine (mozzarella, parmesan, artichokes, garlic, w/dollops of their signature red sauce), or create their own pizza, choosing from more than 20 display toppings. Regardless of what toppings you choose, all pizzas cost $5.88 and are individually ordered, prepared and cooked in 800 degree Earthstone ovens with a 90 second cook time. Creative MOD salads and pizza salads, hand-spun shakes, beer, wine, pizza knots and old fashioned Ding Dongs round out the menu.
